Only RapidXchange uses a 12 Step Quality and Safety Process.
When you exchange your propane tank, you expect it to be quick and convenient. Only RapidXchange can assure you of the quality and the safety of your tank, thanks to Inspector Q’s stringent 12-step automated refurbishing process. Each and every returned tank is subjected to this process before being delivered to your point of Xchange.
Valve Inspection
- Inspector Q and the team inspects each tank for damage, corrosion and overall condition to determine if it needs to removed from service. Each tank is checked to make sure it is properly fitted with an OPD (Overfill Prevention Device) valve. Handle and thread conditions are inspected as well to make sure they are free of corrosion and defects.
- Each tank undergoes a second inspection to determine if it needs blasting or can be sent directly to the line for washing.
Blasting
- Each tank, if needed, is then sent through a blasting process, which strips away all foreign debris, minor corrosion, worn paint spots and food matter. Tanks with excessive rust or corrosion or damaged critical parts are rejected by Inspector Q at this point. The clean, smooth blasted tanks are then sent on to be washed and repainted.
Washing, Painting and Drying
- All tanks are thoroughly washed to remove any grease, food matter or residue left over from the blasting process and to prepare their surfaces for repainting.
- The tanks are given a solid, even coat of new paint, making them not only more attractive but safer (by preventing future rust and corrosion).
- Painted tanks are sent to the drying room where their new paint dries through before being filled. “Q” examines each tank for imperfections before sending it to the filling carousel.
Filling & Weight Check
- Dry, freshly painted tanks are approved by Inspector Q for filling with propane gas. Each tank is hooked up to a tightly fitting, secure filling mechanism and receives an exact amount of gas.
- Each tank is then precision-weighed to affirm it received the appropriate amount of gas.
- The tank is re-weighed by a second system to confirm the proper amount of propane is in the tank.
Leak Check, Sleeve & Seal
- Each RapidXchange tank is then leak checked, whereby the entire valve assembly is enclosed and tested for leaks using the latest infrared technology, superior to traditional human methods. If repairable, detected leaks are swiftly addressed; if not, Inspector Q deems the tank unfit for resale.
- Each tank receives a RapidXChange sleeve signaling that it has been through the quality and safety process and will be a trustworthy purchase.
- Finally, each tank is fitted with a tamper-proof seal around its valve so you know it’s safe, factory-direct and Inspector Q-approved.
